To support BiH children and the economy during and after the pandemic, USAID has partnered with UNICEF in a two-year, $4.8 million project to strengthen BiH's response to and recovery from COVID-19. This project, 'Strengthening Social and Health Protection in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic', will address the devastating effect the pandemic has had on citizens in BiH, specifically the socio-economic impacts.
USAID's comprehensive approach to tourism will improve Bosnia and Herzegovina’s economy and foster social harmony.
Over the course of five years, the USAID mission in BiH expects to refocus civil society on building constituencies and increasing the active roles that men and women, youth, and members of marginalized groups take in their communities and in political life. As a result, an increasing number of reform champions in government will have made tangible progress on reforms needed for the country’s further Euro-Atlantic integration. One visible aspect of this progress will be BiH’s return to Tier 1 status in the State Department’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report.
USAID increases citizens’ access to high-quality, fact-based investigative reports on corruption to increase public access to and demand for anti-corruption initiatives and reforms required for Euro-Atlantic integration.
Through the INSPIRE program, USAID works to empower BiH citizens and government institutions to improve overall human rights protections, services, and employment prospects for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most vulnerable persons.
