Message by USAID/Timor-Leste Mission Director Zema Semunegus: Thinking back to my early days, and also to my earliest impressions in Dili of strong, resolute Timorese like Mana Olina who are looking ahead, far beyond past struggles and current humanitarian challenges, I am encouraged and hopeful. We can work towards a better, more prosperous future. With some support from USAID and other partners, together we can develop the skills everyone needs to succeed for good health, meaningful jobs, good friendships, and lasting peace.
With support from the United States through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Timor-Leste’s Customs Authority today launched a Customs Trade Portal that provides free and easy online access to trade-related information: www.customs.gov.tl.
The United States, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is providing $900,000 in additional assistance to save lives, meet urgent humanitarian needs, and help affected people recover from the devastating floods in Timor-Leste. Heavy rains and strong winds associated with Tropical Cyclone Seroja lashed Timor-Leste's capital Dili and eight municipalities in April, causing extensive flooding and landslides resulting in dozens of deaths, destroyed crops, and thousands of evacuations.
On July 2, 2021, the U.S. government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), launched an activity with the Government of Timor-Leste to help ensure that more
Timorese citizens can access affordable health services through a well-functioning national health system.
Rural youth in Timor-Leste are preparing for a career in tourism through a training course run by USAID’s Tourism For All Project.
