Convened with USAID support through the USAID Health System Sustainability Activity on October 6, 2021, Timorese civil society organizations (CSOs) working in the health sector met for the first time and agreed to form a CSO health network that will become a platform to share information and experience and improve their ability to advocate for citizens' right for health services based on data and evidence.
Streamlined procedures across government agencies initiated by Timor-Leste’s Customs Authority with the help of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) have since 2017 saved an estimated $38 million by cutting out costly consignment import delays.
Press Release, October 12, 2021 - The United States congratulates Timor-Leste for launching the Faith-based Tourism Association (Asosiasaun Turizmu Relijiozu Timor-Leste-ATRTL) today at Dili Cathedral on the anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s visit to the country in 1989. The launch ceremony follows many years of collaboration by religious leaders with U.S. support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through the USAID's Tourism For All Project to establish faith-based tourism in Timor-Leste.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through USAID’s Tourism For All Project, is celebrating World Tourism Day 2021 with the second annual Turizmu Ba Ema Hotu Tourism Champions awards, a program to recognize organizations and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the tourism industry in Timor-Leste. The project has also continued its Tourism Youth Ambassadors activity for a third year, with a public speaking competition for young men and women on this year’s World Tourism Day theme, “Tourism For Inclusive Growth.” USAID and partners recognized the winners at a ceremony on October 8 at the U.S. Ambassador’s Residence in Dili.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Powering Information Communication Technology (ICT) activity through its implementing partner, Tetra Tech Inc, signed an agreement with Tecnologia da Informação e Comunicação (TIC) Timor I.P., an organization under the Office of the Prime Minister responsible for Timor-Leste’s ICT network. Under the agreement, USAID Powering ICT will collect and analyze data provided by TIC to assess Timor-Leste’s electrical grid and telecommunications needs.
