The United States donated an additional 10 million (1 crore) doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to Bangladesh, a gift from the American people. Delivered via COVAX, these donations of Pfizer vaccines bring the total U.S. government vaccine contribution to more than 38.6 million (3.86 crore) doses, with millions more scheduled to arrive over the coming months.
The U.S. government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), announced an additional $25 million in urgent COVID-19 assistance to help Bangladesh provide life-saving medical and oxygen supplies and cold chain equipment to store, transport, and administer vaccines safely. In addition to U.S.-donated vaccines, this new U.S. assistance will help Bangladesh expand vaccinations to people across the country, enable health workers to treat critically ill patients more effectively, and enhance the quality of care in health facilities.
The United States, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), recently announced an additional $11.4 million in urgent COVID-19 assistance for Bangladesh. This assistance will help Bangladesh battle the current wave of COVID-19 by providing life-saving medical and oxygen supplies, and accelerating national efforts to roll out an effective COVID-19 vaccination campaign. The additional support will also help Bangladesh strengthen prevention efforts to reduce virus transmission in the community and enhance the quality of treatment and care for the growing numbers of patients across the country.
Today, the Bangladesh Secretary for the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MOWCA) Md. Sayedul Islam launched a new “Actions to Prevent Child Marriage in Bangladesh” campaign supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The campaign is designed to encourage families to condemn the harmful practice of child marriage and support every girl’s dream to achieve their aspirations and will help advance the objectives of Bangladesh’s 10-year National Plan of Action to End Child Marriage (2018-2030).
