Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Michael Holness in Washington, DC. During the meeting, Administrator Power and Prime Minister Holness celebrated 60 years of development cooperation between the United States and Jamaica and discussed ways to further deepen bilateral relations.

Administrator Power reinforced USAID’s work across several issues in Jamaica, including combatting climate change, fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, diversifying energy resources, and increasing resilience to natural disasters. The Administrator underscored the importance of the U.S.-Jamaica partnership following Vice President Kamala Harris’s announcement of $10 million in violence reduction projects targeting at-risk youth under the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI).
