Nancy J. Eslick joins USAID/Cambodia as the Mission Director. Most recently, she served as USAID’s Mission Director in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she led a complex portfolio working to expand economic prosperity, combat corruption, and strengthen the rule of law. 

Prior to her role in Sarajevo, Ms. Eslick led one of USAID’s largest development programs as USAID/Jordan’s Acting Mission Director and Deputy Mission Director. The hallmarks of her tenure included guiding long-term strategic efforts in water resources and innovative partnerships to promote regional security and stability.

Ms. Eslick also headed USAID’s Central America Regional Security Initiative to combat citizen insecurity and violence. In 2013, she helped establish USAID/Burma, crafting and negotiating the first framework bilateral agreement governing development assistance to Burma in 24 years.    

Ms. Eslick has also been posted overseas to missions in Pakistan, Uganda, and Afghanistan. In Washington, Ms. Eslick served as Office Director of Central America and Mexico, as the Desk Officer for India and Nepal, and in the Office of Human Capital and Talent Management.

Ms. Eslick began her development career as a Peace Corps Volunteer, helping establish Uganda’s Kibale National Park.  She earned a Master of Public Affairs and Master of Science, in addition to an undergraduate degree, from Indiana University at Bloomington. She joined USAID in 2001 as a Presidential Management Fellow and is a career member of the Foreign Service.
